The Fatherless Generation

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, there is a generation that will never meet their fathers.

Growing up in rural North Kivu amidst war, corruption, and mineral-rich land, the odds are stacked against you.   Being born a girl there means growing up among multiple armed groups, all of whom routinely use sexual assault as a military tactic.  With the stigma around being a survivor of sexual violence, many hide it from everyone they know for the rest of their life.  Some give birth to the child of their rapist and are forced to raise them alone.
